Having read the blog about the shooting of pheasant, I can see your point of view. I, at first was totally against hunting, but when the birds will be used for good cause ( and in this case a hearty Sunday lunch for 5) and not just for sport, then I believe it is justified.

As long as it is carried out in a humane and controlled manor then it is part of life’s food chain. (Yes mark, I have had a change of heart and will not moan at you any longer).

I still have strong opinions when it comes to the force feeding of ducks for the French delicacy Fois Gras, and the boiling of live shellfish, but we can't possibly agree on everything.

PS - if anyone is thinking of making a cauliflower puree, add any liquid after is is pureed or it can become very runny Smile

A humane and controlled manner? Is it not incredibly inhumane to dispatch "beaters" into the woodland with the specific task of disturbing the bird from their nest, just so they can be blasted out of the sky? Personally i am not particularly fussed either way about other people bird shooting, but its not something I could do myself, especially as a "sport"- to me the word sport suggests some kind of equal playing field.
