2007 Vintage BeersAs the year has just come to an end, I want to know if anyone has tried any of the vintage beers which have been made in 2007?
I have got some Fuller's Vintage, Thomas Hardy's, a couple of Cooper's vintage's, and a Sierra Nevade Bigfoot all waiting under the stairs but the only one that I have dared to open inthe Fuller's.
I had the Fuller's on New Years Eve - bottle No. 37, 293. I found it to be a massively complex hop-monster of a beer, with a lip-pucking grapefruit character in the nose and from the middle to the end in the mouth. The malts sit quietly underneath the vibrant hops, with some caramel, liquorice and roast orange, but then the hops jag back in again with a tobacco and pepper-punch.
This beer was wonderfully complex to drink and although the hops dominate for now, in a few years the malt palate will ease past the sharp hops; I look forward to trying this in 5-10 years.
Does anyone have any tasting notes for any other 2007's? Or any from years before this? I'd love to know!
