A selection of beers

Went to Borough Market yesterday and got a few nice beers from the stall there.

DOGTOBERFEST

A lovely darker autumnal ale that went amazingly with the pieminister pork and cider pie myself and my girlfriend were tucking into. Quite Malty in taste with a beautil caramel and toffee finish. I would recommend this to anyone who is feeling the winter chill.

SUNBURST CLASSIC GOLDEN ALE

This ale was actually a poor choice for the weather in retrospect. Very light and fruity, it's probably better suited to an afternoons drinking in a summery beer garden. Tasty nonetheless, but lacking the character and depth of taste as the other beers on this list.

LA FIN DU MONDE

A triple fermented, high alchohol content (9%) ale, this really was a deceptively complex little number. With a dark malty smell and strong taste of winter spices this was a wonderful late evening drink. Although the initial taste of malt is somewhat overpowering, the subtleties this gives way to is outstanding. If you count yourself as a person who wants to taste high quality ales then you would be doing yourself a disservice if you didnt search this beer out.

On a side note, the stall did have a 23% beer, but as i didnt want to be paraletic by 8pm i decided against it, but i think this may be one i search out for in the new future.

Have you tried any of these Mark?I would love to hear your views if you have?[/img]

Following your recommendation I have had a bottle of Fin du Monde and I have to say that I wasn't massively blown away, although I will admit that I transfered it from my house to Lauren's and it did get a bit shook-up on route which probably wasn't good for the beer!

My tasting notes for the beer remind me instantly of the big appley nose and fruity grain: I have written down 'tinned peaches and apple puree'.  There was some wheaty spice, perhaps a bit of pepper, which pricked above the syrupy fruitiness and the aromas are big-hitting but I found the relatively short finish to be slightly minerally and tinny and I just wanted something more at the end .

I want to try this beer again when I can pour it in better condition because there is certainly a lot of flavour in there and a massive fruity nose.  I think this beer would lay down well for a few months too.
