On a recent trip to France, i was introduced (after a few persuasive pints i must say) to try the delights of Fruit De'Mer in St Malo. It was a lovely little restuarant within the city walls, and i have to say i was a bit dubious as to how anything served, intact, on an icy platter and that required about 4 different implements to eat with could be a decent meal. However, after a quick tutorial of how to extract various bits of meat from crabs, mussels, langoustines, oysters etc.. i found it one of the most sociable and enjoyable meals i have ever had.... it was also one of the messier ones! Anyway my point is, what are other peoples views on Fruits De'Mer? One thing is for sure, if you haven't tried it you should because it tastes a hell of a lot better than it should from its looks!

I absolutely love to eat a platter of seafood, especially if it is by the sea as the sun sets. In my opinion there are very few things that can compare to this. Put a cold glass of good beer in front of me and some good company opposite and it is just perfect. Plus there us nothing like the shared enjoyment of eating a platter with just your fingers. Top shout on the Fruit de Mer!
